This morning I teleported to Khanada.

I didn't think I'd ever be able to honestly type that sentence.

Access is currently limited to those who were invited as members of the Duran Duran Group (which still exists!) The doors apparently open one week from today. My thoughts (and screenshots) will be blogged here somewhere after that point. No fair in teasing about it.

But I will say . . . it's very, very strange that the original reason I signed up for Second Life is coming back to haunt me at a time like this.

My third rezday was last Saturday and while I wasn't able to make it inworld until late in the day, I did have a lovely time once I made it in.

Cut for length and photography )

Beginning has been spending enough time inworld on her own (at my insistence) that she's considering starting a blog of her own to detail her adventures. I'll let everybody here know the moment she does.

Last night the Group chat for the Duran Duran Fan Club dinged and for a change it was actually a Duranie with a legitimate question instead of spam. I ended up chatting with a few random Duranies as we observed the Lost Continents of Duran Duran from the distance of the world map. Apparently a few changes have been made to the landscape--including a vaguely unnerving texture on the shoreline of Khanada. (Have a look for yourself. Just don't expect to be able to teleport in to observe it up close.)

So it occurred to me that there are quite a few avies like me who showed up for Duran Duran and ended up staying because of everything else that Second Life had to offer. So I've decided to do a couple of profiles of Duranies In Waiting like myself. I have two avies so far who have expressed an interest and I'll be asking around for others. Stay tuned.
